Dua lagi mayat mangsa penerbangan QZ8501 ditemui di kawasan pencarian utama dan telah dipindahkan oleh kapal mencari dan menyelamat (SAR) ke Pangkalan Bun.
AirAsia dalam kenyataannya malam tadi berkata setakat semalam, Agensi Mencari dan Menyelamat Nasional (Basarnas) Republik Indonesia mengesahkan telah menemui sejumlah 53 jenazah dengan 45 telah dikenal pasti, enam sedang dikenal pasti dan dua lagi masih belum tiba di Hospital Bhayangkara.
Kenyataan itu menyebut Jabatan Pengenalpasti Mangsa Bencana (DVI) Polis Republik Indonesia (DVI POLRI) kini sedang mengumpul lebih banyak bukti DNA yang diperlukan bagi menyamakan data ante-mortem dan post-mortem kepada enam jenazah yang sedang dikenalpasti.
Sementara itu, operasi SAR diteruskan pagi ini walaupun ombak besar dan arus deras menyebabkan usaha penyelam bagi menghampiri serpihan fiuslaj yang berada di kedalaman 28 meter di dasar Laut Jawa tertunda.
"Penyelam telah mencuba menghampiri serpihan tersebut untuk pemerhatian yang lebih lanjut tetapi kembali ke permukaan kerana keadaan laut yang bergelora," menurut kenyataan itu.
Bagaimanapun, Basarnas memberi jaminan misi mencari dan menyelamat penumpang QZ8501 masih menjadi keutamaan kerana disyaki masih banyak penumpang terperangkap di bawah serpihan tersebut.

Puchong MP Gobind Singh Deo says measures taken so far to curb custodial deaths do not seem to be effective. – The Malaysian Insider file pic, January 19, 2015.A DAP federal lawmaker has once again suggested that laws be enacted to hold police "criminally liable" for causing hurt and deaths of detainees to curb cases of custodial deaths in the country.Puchong MP Gobind Singh Deo pointed out that officers in charge of the police stations and investigating officers should be held liable for the condition of the detainees under their charge.Gobind said this following the coroner's court ruling recently that police were responsible for the death of lorry driver P. Chandran while in custody as they had failed to provide him with timely medical assistance.The DAP lawmaker added that legislation was also needed to ensure the government and the police force were automatically liable in civil actions for causing injuries and deaths in custody, unless there was proof that all reasonable steps had been taken to ensure the safety of the detainees."I call upon the Inspector-General of Police to state if he is prepared to support such a proposal."If he isn't, I call upon him to state what steps to be taken in order to ensure that we stop further deaths in police custody," he said in a statement today.A good start, he added, would be for the top cop to acknowledge responsibility and state the immediate action to be taken against officers liable in the P. Chandran case.Sessions judge Ahmad Bache, who sat as coroner, had said in his verdict that police officers from Cheras and Dang Wangi district police headquarters had committed unlawful omission by not giving Chandran his medication and sending him to hospital.Ahmad said the police were aware that Chandran was under medication as this had been recorded by a magistrate when a remand order was issued against him.He said that closed-circuit television (CCTV) images showed that the 47-year-old had likely died due to hypertensive heart disease at 7.48am but police had reported his death only 12 hours later.Chandran, who was from Simpang Renggam, Johor, was arrested on September 6, 2012, following a police report lodged by an Indonesian woman who said her newborn baby had been abducted and held for ransom.Further investigations revealed that the woman had agreed to give the baby to Chandran's brother-in-law, who is a Muslim and had no children.The baby was supposed to be adopted after the completion of documentation.However, she changed her mind and lodged a police report. Police arrested four people, including Chandran and the would-be adoptive parents.Chandran, a father of six, was held at the Dang Wangi police station lock-up for four days before his death and during that period, he was not allowed to take the medication that his family members tried to give him.Gobind said the coroner's verdict is a "most damning indictment" against the force which IGP Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar and the Home Ministry should be ashamed of.He said as the nation's top cop and leader of the force, Khalid had failed to ensure the safety of people under police custody and failed to ensure there were no more custodial deaths.The two-term MP pointed out the introduction of new measures, like the installation of CCTVs to oversee what happens in police stations, did not seem to have worked, as shown in Chandran's case."It is obvious that there is an attitude problem here. We seem to have officers who despite all else, just do not have the sense nor conscience to deal with people in their custody humanely."I am of the considered view that if we are to fix the problem and rid ourselves of it altogether, we must make these officers and their immediate superiors strictly accountable. To do this, we must instil within them the fear of stern punishment and civil liability in the event incidents like these occur under their watch." he added. – January 19, 2015.

Kula Segaran says Putrajaya should not treat custodial deaths as mere statistics. – The Malaysian Insider file pic, January 17, 2015.The coroner ruled that Chandran, 47, had died after being deprived of his medication.“The police have committed unlawful omission, which led to the death of the deceased by not giving him the medication for his disease and for not taking the necessary actions when his life was threatened," judge Ahmad Bache said in his ruling.Chandran, a father of six, was held at the lock-up for four days before his death and during that period, he was not allowed to take the medication that his family members tried to give him.The judge had also ticked off the police for their "failure and dishonesty" as footage obtained from the closed-circuit television (CCTV) showed that Chandran was not moving at 7.48am the day he died but police only reported his death 10 hours later.“This is an uncompassionate act and the court thinks that the deceased should not have been left to die in such conditions," Ahmad said.Kula said today that it was shocking to hear from the court how inhumane the police were towards Chandran, who was a suspect in a kidnapping case."Will (Datuk) Paul Low, the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, who has not supported the setting up of the IPCMC now change his mind after reading such a 'horror' story?"In 2013, then High Court judge V.T. Singham had in the A. Kugan verdict said the setting up of IPCMC to investigate claims of disciplinary offences by the police to eliminate accusations of 'horror stories' in lock-ups, had to be urgently considered."Kugan, then 22, was arrested in Puchong on January 14, 2009, and held overnight at the Puchong Jaya police lock-up before police obtained a remand order.He was taken to the Taipan USJ, Subang Jaya police station two days later for questioning and was found dead on January 20, 2009.Last year, the Court of Appeal upheld a High Court ruling that Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar, who was the Selangor police chief then, and his police officers were responsible for Kugan's death.Kula noted that according to a report by Human Rights Watch (HRW) released last year, only 7% of complaints made against the police between 2005 and 2012 had reached the courts, while more than half had yet to be fully investigated."From extrajudicial killings of teenagers to custodial deaths, threats to lawyers and assaults on journalists covering demonstrations, the report gives chilling and bloody first-person accounts of police abuse and misconduct."Malaysians are outraged by the rising custodian deaths and they are entitled to ask the government – how many more custodial deaths must occur before the IPCMC is set up?" – January 17, 2015.

ในช่วงปลายสัปดาห์ที่ผ่านมามีเรื่องที่น่าอายอย่างยิ่งที่ รัฐบาลต้องแก้ไข ไม่ควรปล่อยผ่านให้เกิดขึ้นซ้ำๆ อีกในอนาคตข้างหน้า
เรื่องแรก กรณีข่าวชาวญี่ปุ่น ที่เปิดเผยเรื่องราวผ่านสังคมออนไลน์ ที่ต้องเผชิญปัญหาในสนามบินสุวรรณภูมิ ทั้งการบริการอันย้ำแย่ของเจ้าหน้าที่ผ่านคนเข้าเมือง และ บริการของแท็กซี่ที่ตั้งใจโก่งราคาค่าโดยสาร แพงเกินเหตุ ไม่ยอมเปิดมิเตอร์ค่าโดยสาร จนทำให้เขาปรามาสว่า สนามบินสุวรรณภูมิเป็นสนามบินที่น่ารังเกียจที่สุด เป็นเรื่อง ที่น่าอับอายยิ่ง ที่ผู้บริหารสนามบินสุวรรณภูมิไม่ควรปล่อยผ่านโดยไม่แก้ไขปัญหาอย่างจริงจัง
เรื่องที่สอง จากกรณีที่มีนักท่องเที่ยวชาวมาเลเซีย จำนวน 8 คน เข้าไปเที่ยวที่ร้านคาราโอเกะ "พิงค์เลดี้" ใน อ.เมือง จ.เชียงใหม่ แล้วถูกเช็คบิลเรียกค่าบริการเป็นเงินทั้งสิ้น 114,080 บาท ซึ่งสูงกว่าความเป็นจริง ทำให้มีการเข้าแจ้งความต่อพนักงานสอบสวน สภ.เมืองเชียงใหม่ และเจ้าหน้าที่กำลังดำเนินคดีอยู่ในขณะนี้ เป็นอีกเรื่องหนึ่งที่น่าอับอายและควรแก้ไขไม่ให้เกิดซ้ำขึ้นมาอีก
ทั้งสองเหตุการณ์ไม่ได้เกิดขึ้นครั้งแรก ยิ่งกรณีแท็กซี่สนามบิน เรามักได้ยินข่าวอยู่เสมอๆ หรือบางคนอาจเจอกับตัวเองมาแล้ว นอกจาก การเรียกเก็บค่าโดยสารแพงเกินเหตุไม่ยอมเก็บค่าโดยสารตามมิเตอร์ค่าโดยสารแล้ว หากเป็นคนไทยบางคนอาจเคยเจอประสบการณ์ แท็กซี่สนามบินไม่ยอมรับผู้โดยสารคนไทย ก็มีมีบางยุคบางช่วงที่มีความพยายามแก้ไขปัญหาเหล่านี้แต่ก็ไม่สามารถแก้ไขจนเป็นข่าวสร้างความเสื่อมเสียให้กับประเทศขึ้นมาอีกจนได้
เช่นกันเมื่อหลายปีก่อน ก็มีเหตุ คาราโอเกะราคามหาโหดเกิดขึ้น มีการทำร้ายแขกมีมาใช้บริการจนเป็นข่าวใหญ่โต แต่กระนั้นก็ตาม เหตุการณ์ค่าคาราโอเกะราคาโหดยังมีต่อเนื่อง หากลองค้นหาใน Google คำว่า คาราโอเกะโหด ดูจะมีคนมาแชร์ประสบการณ์หลายคนทีเดียว
แต่ครั้งนี้เรื่องค่าคาราโอเกะโหดเกิดขึ้นกับแขกต่างชาติ จนถึงขั้นฟ้องร้องคดีกันจนทำให้เสื่อมเสียชื่อเสียงของประเทศไปอีกครั้ง
ในปัจจุบันประเทศไทยกำลังต้องการนักท่องเที่ยวต่างชาติเข้ามาเพื่อกระตุ้นเศรษฐกิจ นำเงินตราต่างประเทศเข้ามา แต่กลับมีเรื่องอื้อฉาวในทางลบเกิดขึ้น โดยเฉพาะเหตุการณ์ที่สนามบินสุวรรณภูมิ ซึ่งเป็นประตูเป็นหน้าตาของประเทศ ที่แขกต่างบ้านต่างเมืองเข้ามาควรจะได้รับความประทับใจ เพื่อจะไปบอกเล่าเก้าสิบชักชวนคนบ้านเขาเมืองเขามาเที่ยวเมืองไทยเพิ่มขึ้น แต่กลับเจอประสบการณ์ร้ายขนาดประณามว่ากล่าวเสียหาย
ซึ่งทำให้การท่องเที่ยวที่พยายามออกไปประชาสัมพันธ์ชักชวนให้ต่างชาติเข้ามาเที่ยวเมืองไทยต้องเสียงบประมาณไปไม่รู้มากน้อยเท่าไร กลับเสื่อมเสียชื่อเสียเพราะ การบริการของสนามบิน และบริการของคาราโอเกะ ในเรื่องดังกล่าว
เรื่องที่เกิดขึ้นเป็นสิ่งสะท้อนของความไม่ซื่อตรงเห็นแก่ได้ เห็นแก่ประโยชน์ส่วนตัว จนทำร้ายชื่อเสียงประเทศซึ่งไม่อาจมองข้าม
ในยุคของการเปลี่ยนผ่านประเทศ ความพยายามในการปฏิรูปประเทศ ปฏิรูปสังคมให้เจริญก้าวหน้าไปในอนาคต สิ่งเหล่านี้ไม่อาจมองเป็นเรื่องเล็กๆที่มองข้ามผ่าน ถึงเวลาที่หน่วยงานของรัฐที่เกี่ยวข้องต้องจัดการเพื่อแก้ไขปัญหาระยะยาวไม่ให้เกิดขึ้นมาอีก
ถึงเวลาที่คนไทยในฐานะเจ้าบ้าน ในฐานะผู้ให้บริการจะต้องปฏิรูปตัวเอง มีความซื่อสัตย์ต่ออาชีพ ต่อผู้ใช้บริการ เพื่อสร้างความเป็นธรรมให้กับผู้ใช้บริการไม่ว่าจะคนไทยหรือ แขกต่างบ้านต่างเมืองเพื่ออนาคตระยะยาวต่อไป...........
